George Joseph Neally, husband of Lorna Manuel Neally, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on November 17, 2022, at the age of 64.
Born in Chatham on April 19, 1958, he was the son of the late George Neally Sr, and Loretta (Woods) Neally.
George was enjoying his retirement after 32 years as an Infrastructure Bridge Worker for the Department of Transportation. Before working for the Department of Transportation, he worked at Loggie’s Hardware Store.
George was an amazing father, loving husband, and devoted grandfather. He always did everything he could for his daughters. He always put smiles on the faces of everyone he met. He always helped people in need and volunteered at the Boy’s and Girl’s club while his daughters attended the programs there. He also volunteered as Santa Claus at the Peek-A-Boo daycare in 2014.
George will be greatly missed by his wife Lorna, daughters Katie Neally (Brad), and Holly Yde (Tristan); stepsons Josh and Kyle Durelle; granddaughter Alyssa Malley; brother David Neally (Wendy), and his sister Patsy Ashe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his infant daughter Amber Nicole Neally, and sisters, Carmel Neally, and Jeanie (Neally) Galley.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Maher’s Funeral Home. At George’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service will be held at a later date.
George’s family would like to thank the Eastside Special Care Home caregivers, as well as the staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital for the care and support provided to George during his hospital stays.
Donations in George’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation, or the IWK Children’s Hospital.
