Margaret Doris (Furlong) (Savage) Ross

Margaret Doris (Furlong) (Savage) Ross of Lower Newcastle passed away on Saturday January 6, 2018 at the age of 83.

Born in Nash Creek, N.B. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Margaret (LaPointe) Furlong.
Besides her parents. She was predeceased by husbands Lawrence Savage and Gerald Ross, sons Joseph Savage (in infancy) and Eric Savage, brothers James Furlong and Clarence Furlong sister Irene Fitzsimmons.

She is survived by sons Michael Savage of Calgary AB and Robert Savage of Lower Newcastle. Grandchildren, Christopher Savage, Nicholas Savage, Erica MacDonald (Shawn) and Jonathon Savage, Great-grandchildren Alice & Alexander MacDonald. Also one brother Lawrence Furlong (Thèrése) of Hampton and sister Irma Ferlotte of Moncton.
Attended Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Bartibog Bridge where she served as lector and was member of the choir. She served as secretary of Saint Anne’s Altar Society and the Parish Council for several years.
Graduated from Teacher’s College in Fredericton and spent 32 years in the teaching profession.
Visitation will be at Maher’s Funeral Home, Miramichi, N.B. on Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 11am from Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church Bartibog Bridge with Fr. Anthony officiating. As an expression of sympathy a donation maybe made to the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery Fund would be appreciated.Retired teachers are requested to gather prior to the funeral, no later than 10:30 AM, for designated seating during the service and the formation of an honour guard, afterward.
